Founded by Richard Washington on July 19, 1986, ELECTRIC PIRATES ENTERTAINMENT, INC., along with its parent company, EPE HOLDINGS, INC., headquartered in New York City, is Mr. Washington's one-man tribute to the legacy of Edward Teach, a/k/a Blackbeard, the Most Dangerous Pirate on Earth!
The Company's Mission Statement reads as follows: "......to seek out the weird, the wild, and the misunderstood in all facets of the entertainment community....."
That quest is constantly pursued by an entire Family of Characters, as created (and sometimes performed!) by Mr. Washington. In addition to Captain Blackbeard and Blackwolf the Dragonmaster, the Electric Pirates Family of Characters consists of:
THE QUARTET OF THE LONGBEARDS --- Vladimir Dumont and Wilhelm Keisst, violins; Jossef Trautz, viola; and Hans Bloemenseth, cello. These four long-bearded, fun-loving chamber musicians are on a merry, unending quest to explore the wonders of the entire string quartet repertoire and share its legacy with everyone.
KING HUMPHREY III OF BERENICIA --- Joined by his loyal Court Jester, Bellbottom, King Humphrey rules a happy Kingdom where "faerie tales with attitude" are always the order of the day.
UNCLE FERGUS --- Pipe Major Fergus MacAndrich Lochinvar Gordon (Retired), last American-born descendant of the Gordons of Lochinvar, and bagpipe-blowin' guardian spirit of Scottish Highland Games fans everywhere. Haunting the world's Scottish Games and other bagpipe-related events, the ghostly but good-hearted Uncle Fergus reminds Scots throughout the cosmos to always take pride in their Scottish heritage! Uncle Fergus is usually accompanied by Pipe Major Angus and his One Piper's Family: Heather, Angus' wife and Pipe Sergeant; and their two twin children, Jamie (the boy) and Colleen (the girl).
OLD MAN FIDDLER --- A transplanted former New Yorker, bluegrass and country-music loving Otto Erhardt Funk is mostly never seen without his trusty fiddle underneath his long-bearded chin. Unusually blessed with the ability to speak the language of beasts almost from the moment he re-settled in the deep, green forests of Northern California, Old Man Fiddler is never without a twinkle in his eye or a song in his heart!
KING MATTHEW'S FAMILY: Noble and wise King Matthew, Food Network-obsessed Queen Dolores, 12-year-old would be rock-star Prince Horatio and 10-year-old tea-party fanatic Princess Maya, Sir Christopher, Prime Minister and Lord High Chamberlain, Fibich the Fabulous, Court Wizard and Royal Schoolteacher; Carla the Court Jester, and Bernard the Dragon all share typical family adventures together. It's just that they happen to be an average Royal Family, too. Occasionally, they're joined by Captain Phineas Jones, the World's Friendliest Pirate, and his jolly crew!
